Staffing News

We are delighted to share that Miss Whitfield, Year 2 Sycamore Class Teacher, will be getting married next week. She will return to school after the holidays as Mrs Higgins. We are sure you will join us in wishing Miss Whitfield and her partner every happiness as they celebrate their wedding and begin this exciting new chapter together.

We also say farewell today to Mrs Howell, Year 2 Lime Class Teacher, who will be commencing her maternity leave after half-term. We send warmest wishes to Mrs Howell and her family at this very special and exciting time.

We are pleased to share that two longstanding members of staff, Mrs Head and Miss Wallace, will be teaching Lime Class for the final weeks of the summer term.

Inclusion Coffee Morning

he next Inclusion Coffee morning is on Monday 8th June. Please come to the Old School Hall after drop off (8:35-8:45am). We will be focusing on supporting children with neurodiversity. This informal and welcoming session will offer families practical advice and strategies to help understand and celebrate their child’s strengths and needs. We will explore ideas for supporting communication, routines, emotional regulation, focus, and organisation, as well as provide an opportunity to share experiences and connect with other families. We look forward to seeing you there.

Key Stage 2 Sports Day

Some years ago, we reviewed the structure of our Key Stage 2 Sports Day, particularly the types of races that were taking place. We felt strongly that all children should have the opportunity to race on Sports Day if they wished, which had not always been the case previously.

Feedback from pupils and staff highlighted that, in order for the event to be both competitive and fair for all participants, races should be organised into heats based on broad ability. In the weeks leading up to Sports Day, pupils are given several opportunities to race, allowing teachers to carefully assess and place children into the most appropriate races. This ensures that every child who chooses to take part contributes to the house points system that determines the overall winning house.

On the morning of Key Stage 2 Sports Day (Session 1), pupils will take part in field events, alongside a number of fun sprint races and year group relay races. During this session, the sprint semi-finals will also take place, determining which children will progress to compete in the sprint finals later in the day. Please see the attached document with more details.  Please note that parents are allowed on site during session 1 and session 2, but must leave the school site during lunchtime.

During the morning session (session 1) all children will participate in a variety of inclusive activities designed to provide them with appropriately challenging, yet enjoyable competitive opportunities.

The afternoon session (Session 2) will conclude with the sprint finals and the house relay races, providing an exciting and celebratory finish to the day’s events.

Leadership Newsletter - Executive Functioning

Each term, we publish a Leadership Newsletter to keep you informed about key areas of our school improvement work. This term, our focus has been on developing staff understanding of Executive Functioning in children.

We have been leading training to deepen our knowledge of how these skills support children’s learning, behaviour, and overall development. In this newsletter, we would like to share with you what executive functioning is, why it is so important, and how, together, we can support children as they develop these essential life skills.

Please find the newsletter here:
