Welcome
Dear Parents
As we begin a new academic year at Leckhampton Primary School, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to all our families. It has been wonderful to see the children settle in so confidently and enthusiastically, which has already made for a fantastic start to the term.
We also send our very best wishes to the pupils who have moved on to new schools. We are proud of all they achieved during their time with us and know they will continue to flourish in their new settings.
There is much to look forward to this academic year with new initiatives and ideas, which will be launched over the coming weeks and months. Once approved by our Governing Body, we will share our key school improvement priorities, as well as some of the successes of the past year.
One of the first things you may notice, is the change to the bulletin. We hope that by embedding it on our school website with hyperlinks, we can make information a little more streamlined for families. We are also returning to fortnightly editions, which will hopefully feel more manageable for everyone.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to an enjoyable year ahead
Warm regards
Sam Porter

Upcoming Dates
Please find a full list of dates of upcoming events on our school website. You will find an option to subscribe to our school calendar in the top right-hand corner.
Please see the link below:
Pupil Parliament (Years 2-5)

During week 4 of term, children in Years 2, 3, 4 & 5 will be given an opportunity to put themselves forward to be their class’s Pupil Parliament representative. One pupil from each of these classes will be voted in by their peers and will join one of our Ministries, along with the Year 6 House Captains. If your child would like to say 1-2 sentences about why they think they would be a good Ministry member, please ask them to prepare these words by Thursday 18th September. After this date, class teachers will arrange some time for the children to share their sentences and children will hold a democratic vote. If your child has been a Pupil Parliament representative in recent years, and has visited the Houses of Parliament in London, we would ask that they not apply again please until they reach Year 6 House Captains elections.

General Notices
CHILDREN’S SNACKS
We would like to remind families that children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are provided with a fruit snack each day. Children in Years 3-6 are welcome to bring in snacks but we ask that these snacks are fruit or a cereal bar. Children who have a packed lunch are welcome to bring in chocolate and crisps as part of their balanced lunch. Please could we remind parents to label all snack pots.
PE LESSONS
You will by now be aware of the days when your child has PE. Please could we ask that on these days, the following guidance is followed:
- Long hair is tied back
- Pupils with ear piercings have these covered with micro-pore tape before the school day
- All items of clothing and PE kit are named including shoes, ties and bags. Any misplaced items will be returned to your child if they are clearly labelled
Should your child forget their kit, they will be loaned some spare kit in school to allow them to take part in the session. If your child is unable to take part in the PE lesson due to illness or injury, their teacher will arrange for them to visit a neighbouring classroom for the duration of the session.
BIKES AND SCOOTERS
At Leckhampton, we’re proud to support active journeys to school, and we’re delighted to see so many pupils arriving by bicycle or scooter.
To help keep everyone safe and ensure smooth entry for all, we kindly ask that children using bikes or scooters enter the school via the Church Road entrance. This helps prevent congestion at other gates and keeps pathways clear for those arriving on foot.
A big thank you to all the children who have remembered to dismount at the gate and walk their bikes or scooters to the storage area. Your cooperation makes a real difference!
NAMING ITEMS
At Leckhampton, we have systems in place to help ensure that lost items are returned to their owners promptly, helping us avoid a build-up of lost property. To support this, we kindly ask that every item your child brings to school is clearly labelled with their name. This includes:
- Water bottles
- Snack pots
- Coats and uniform
- Trainers and PE bags
- Lunchboxes
We also aim to clear the lunchbox shelves every Friday afternoon, so please help us by collecting any unclaimed lunchboxes before the weekend. Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep our school tidy and organised.
