Dear Parents
Happy New Year! I hope you and your families enjoyed a restful and joyful Christmas break.
The children have returned to school focused on their learning; we hope you find their curriculum overviews for Spring 1 useful, to summarise the main learning outcomes for your child’s class this term.
We are looking forward to beginning our teacher-led clubs next week. Our House Music rehearsals for pupils in Years 3 to 6 will begin and the whole-school song has been selected for all children to learn. The song is “Thread of Hope” by Tom and Buzz Fletcher. The lyrics are beautiful and I am sure will become one of our school favourites. If you would be happy to download the track at home for the children to sing along to, we’d be really grateful.
We also have a very important safeguarding note which parents are able to read below. This relates to the “According to Humphrey” books. Please do take the time to read this aspect of the bulletin carefully.
Parents will have received separate correspondence, which outlines our school closure procedures. As stated, we will always try to open the school wherever possible and would only close in exceptional circumstances.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Best wishes
Sam Porter
Important Safeguarding Notice
We have been made aware that several titles in the ‘According to Humphrey’ series contain a weblink at the back of the book that no longer directs people to information about the books. Instead, the link has been compromised and now leads to inappropriate and unsafe material that should not be accessed by children at any age.
Below are images of some of the front covers in the series to help you identify the books should you have any at home. The link can be found on the back cover or may be also included on a page inside.
For clarity and reassurance, we are not aware of any children who have accessed this link at our school and have removed copies of the book with the weblink from school circulation.
Actions and Next Steps:
- If you have any of these books at home, we advise you to remove them immediately or remove the page with the weblink.
- Be extra-vigilant with all children’s books that contain links and ensure that they are checked by an adult.
We are grateful for your continued support in working together to keep our children safe.

Cheltenham Young Artist Competition 2026
Thank you to all who took the time to enter The Cheltenham Young Artist Competition 2026. We were so impressed with such a range of creative entries. The judges had a very difficult time choosing work from the 450 entries for exhibition. 50 works have been selected, celebrating the creativity of children in the area. We are delighted to share with you that the following pupils from Leckhampton C of E Primary School will have work in the exhibition:
| Reuben | To Imagine To Draw |
| Leon | Godzilla |
| Olivia | A Marine Girl |
The exhibition will be at the Gardens Gallery, Montpellier Gardens, Cheltenham GL50 1SW over the weekend of Saturday January 17th (10am to 4pm) and Sunday January 18th, (10am to 2.30pm).
Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the work and entry is free! There will also be a public vote for their favourite piece of work. We would love it if you could take the time to enjoy the work and vote for your favourite piece. The Garden Café adjacent to the gallery is usually open for refreshments too.
Many thanks again to all the pupils who entered and congratulations again to Reuben, Leon and Olivia. What an achievement!
Mrs Chapman

Open Classrooms
Parents are invited to visit their child’s classroom on Wednesday 28th January from 8.35am to 8.55am. Please would the parents of children in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6 enter and exit the classroom via the external classroom door, this reduces congestion in the corridors and at the children’s entrance door. Thank you.
Leadership Coffee Morning
Each term, we host a Leadership Coffee Morning to give parents the chance to meet with school leaders and hear about key developments at Leckhampton.
Our next session will take place on Wednesday 28th January at 9:00am, immediately after Open Classrooms.
📍 Location: Main Hall (in person)
💻 Online Option: A live Zoom link will also be available for those who prefer to join remotely.
This session will focus on our recently revised Vision and Values Curriculum, which outlines how we teach personal, social and health education. Our subject leaders, Miss Wallace and Mr Stagg, will share the context behind the curriculum and the thinking that shaped its design.
We warmly invite all parents to attend and join the conversation. There is no need to RSVP. A Zoom link will be emailed to all parents ahead of the day.
Nut Allergies
Nut allergies continue to be a serious health concern, and even small traces of nuts can trigger severe reactions in some children. To help keep everyone safe, please avoid sending any nut‑containing foods to school and double‑check ingredient labels when packing snacks or lunches. Your support helps us maintain a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
