Dear Parents
Many thanks to those who attended the Leadership Coffee Morning in person or online! It was great to share our plans for the year ahead and key priorities for Leckhampton. We will of course keep you updated with developments and successes across the year.
Whilst most of our correspondence to families aims to be positive and upbeat, on occasions we do need to send out messages which aren’t so positive. Cue the aren’t so positive messages…
Attendance
Today families will receive updated guidance on school attendance and will note from the covering letter I have included, that the tone of the guidance is a little more direct than previous publications. There is a definite shift in the Government and Local Authority’s approach to school attendance and a clear message that children should be in school during term time, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Please do take the time to read the information carefully as the system for requesting leave is changing, as well as statutory guidance for schools.
Parking
Despite many polite reminders, and the school trying to be as accommodating as possible, a small number of parents are continuing to use the staff car park to drop off or pick up from breakfast and after school club. The staff car park should not be used by parents at any time. If the visitor car park is busy, parents should park off site.
If parents continue to use the staff car park, we will be forced to remove all parental parking on site, with the exception of Blue Badge Holders.
…and on to more positive matters.
Class Dojo
Hopefully families are enjoying the snippets of classroom life posted on Dojo. As school leaders, it’s always a pleasure to scroll through the classes and see the children in action. It also helps to give a real flavour of everyday life here at Leckhampton. Please do hit the heart button if you see something you like.
Kind regards
Sam Porter
Class Collective Worship
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our Thursday, class collective worships this year. Whole school acts of worship are cherished moments for our children and staff and we are delighted that families feel welcome to join us in worship.
It is wonderful to see and hear parents catching up with one another from 8:35am when the doors open. However, at 8:55am, as the children begin to assemble, we ask that all adults support us in creating a sense of calm and peace and wait quietly for the children to enter. Our pupils are accustomed to entering silently, listening to the music being played, or reflecting on the image shown on the screen.
This year, following each class collective worship, parents will be invited to complete a small card to share how the worship made them feel. As a Church of England school, we deeply value the impact of these moments. Your feedback, alongside that of the pupils, will help us reflect on and celebrate the significance of our worship together.
Agents of Change Award
We feel that it is important that our children feel able to act when they feel that something needs to change for the good of a community. Therefore, we celebrate children being advocates for change and taking social action to have a positive impact on the lives of others. In January 2023, we launched our Agents of Change initiative, a system where children apply to receive a badge in recognition of their actions.
If you would like to submit evidence for your child to be recognised with an Agents of Change Award, please use the Microsoft Form which has been emailed to all parents. We have decided not to post the application link on our website to reduce the chances of it being used outside of our parent body.
Who can apply?
Any pupil in any year group is welcome to apply.
When do children need to apply by?
We have planned ceremonies every term to award children with their badges. These will take place on:-
Monday 1st December 2025
Monday 15th December 2025
Monday 2nd March 2026
Monday 16th March 2026
Monday 8th June 2026
Monday 22nd June 2026
Finally, if you have any questions about the initiative, please do contact us using the e-mail address: agentsofchange@leckhampton.gloucs.sch.uk
We do hope that your children will consider taking part in this exciting opportunity.
What are the criteria for each badge?
