House Music Competition 2026
House Music 2026
I am thrilled to share plans for this year’s House Music competition.
This exciting competition has taken place each year for several years now. Pupils in Years 3 to 6 are invited to come together in house groups to rehearse and perform a song as a large group. These group performances are directed and choreographed by our Year 6 House Captains and Arts Captains. Each group performs to the whole school, including a panel of judges who provide a score for each performance. They then perform for their parents.
Virtual Performances
We invite children across all year groups to take part in our virtual performance competition which will allow them to score points for their house. Children are invited to sing or play a musical instrument in their video which must be no longer than 2 minutes and must clearly state the following:
- Child’s name
- Child’s year group
- Child’s house
If these are not stated at the beginning of each video, no points will be awarded.
Duets and small group performances from children in the same house are permitted but only one point will be awarded for each video, not every child taking part in the video.
These videos will be watched and celebrated by whole year groups in an afternoon. If your child would like to take part in the virtual performances, please send their video to housemusic@leckhampton.gloucs.sch.uk no later than Friday 13th March.
Performance to Parents (Years 3 to 6)
For those of you who wish to watch, you are welcome to join us in the school hall on Friday 27th March for the performances between 2:15pm and 2:45pm. Please access the school hall by the car park entrance where we will open the doors for you at 2.05pm.
We look forward to viewing all musical entries and to seeing many of you on 27th March.
Kind regards,
Mrs Howell (Music Coordinator)
Open Classrooms
Parents are invited to visit their child’s classroom on Wednesday 28th January from 8.35am to 8.55am. Please would the parents of children in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6 enter and exit the classroom via the external classroom door, this reduces congestion in the corridors and at the children’s entrance door. Thank you
Leadership Coffee Morning
Each term, we host a Leadership Coffee Morning to give parents the chance to meet with school leaders and hear about key developments at Leckhampton.
Our next session will take place on Wednesday 28th January at 9:00am, immediately after Open Classrooms.
📍 Location: Main Hall (in person)
💻 Online Option: A live Zoom link will also be available for those who prefer to join remotely.
This session will focus on our recently revised Vision and Values Curriculum, which outlines how we teach personal, social and health education. Our subject leaders, Miss Wallace and Mr Stagg, will share the context behind the curriculum and the thinking that shaped its design.
We warmly invite all parents to attend and join the conversation. There is no need to RSVP. A Zoom link will be emailed to all parents ahead of the day.
World Book Day 2026
Our English Team are busy planning our World Book Day event on Thursday 5th March. We’d like to remind families that we invite children and staff to dress up as a character from a book every other year and this year is a dress‑up year. We can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity and favourite stories brought to life. Further information will follow about the planned activities for this exciting day.
School Books
We are currently missing a significant number of school reading books and library books. Please could all families check at home and return any books belonging to the school as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.
Absence Notifications
Just a reminder to address any communications regarding your child’s absence or change to pick up arrangements to attendance@leckhampton.gloucs.sch.uk only please. You will receive an auto reply to confirm receipt of your email. Only last minute (urgent) changes to collection arrangements should be made by phone, thank you.
