Open Classrooms

Parents are warmly invited to join us for our next ‘Open Classrooms’ which will be held on Monday 24th November from 8.35am to 8.55am. This is an opportunity for parents to visit the classroom to see some of their child’s work. Sidney’s House will be open for the pupils who access this space to invite their parents across to see the activities available.

On this day, please use your child’s external classroom door to enter and exit the building, if they have one. This reduces congestion at the children’s entrance.

The classrooms with external doors are:

Reception – Ash
Reception – Elm
Reception – Oak
Year 1 – Birch
Year 1 – Hazel
Year 1 – Larch
Year 2 – Holly
Year 2 – Lime
Year 2 – Sycamore
Year 6 – Juniper
Year 6 – Maple
Year 6 – Willow

Christmas Lunches

A reminder that the last day for ordering Christmas lunches is Friday 28th November. Please ensure that Christmas meals are ordered via ParentPay by this date. Any order requests after this date will not be accepted.

Teaching and Learning Week

Next week is Teaching and Learning week. This is a week when teachers do not run clubs but use the time to focus on their planning, marking and assessments. Please make sure that alternative collection arrangements are made for children who would usually attended a club run by a member of school staff.

Emergency Contact Details

It is important that we keep up to date contact details for all children.  If you have moved house or changed your phone number/email address, please let the school admin team know via email to admin@leckhampton.gloucs.sch.uk

Hamper Scamper

Helping to make sure that no-one gets left behind at Christmas” CCP – Caring for Communities and People.

What is Hamper Scamper?

Hamper Scamper is one of the South West’s largest and most impactful food and gift appeals aimed at helping households who are likely to struggle – financially, or through loneliness and isolation – during the festive season.

Their aim is simple – to ensure that every household that they identify receives a Christmas food hamper – a ‘hug in a box’ – full of five festive treats, and that each child they work with gets a Xmas gift wish.  None of this is possible without the wonderful groups, businesses and individuals who rally around every family and child referred to them.  CCP receives no funding to run Hamper Scamper, and every hamper and gift is a pledge of generosity from wonderful donors.

How can I take part?

If you would like to contribute to the donations, please send items into school from Monday 24th November to Wednesday 3rd December. Year 3 pupils will collect the items from each classroom, each day.

Which items shall I send in?

Please send in:

  • Savoury snacks
  • Hot drinks (tea/ coffee/ hot chocolate)
  • Biscuit selection
  • A festive dessert or mince pies
  • Chocolates or selection box

Please ensure all items are in date until 25th December 2025.

SIAMS Inspection

Our school is scheduled to undergo a SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) inspection during this academic year.

The purpose of SIAMS is to explore how each school’s Christian vision drives its work and enables the school to live up to its foundation as a Church school. Inspectors focus on how this vision impacts pupils and adults, looking at the provision made because of this vision and how effective it is in enabling all to flourish.

The Church of England’s vision for education is described as “Deeply Christian, serving the common good.” At its heart is Jesus’ promise of “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). This vision seeks to ensure that children and young people flourish regardless of background, and is worked out through four key elements: wisdom, hope, community, and dignity.

This inspection is an important opportunity to celebrate the strengths of our school and to reflect on areas where we can continue to grow. We will keep you updated once we have confirmation of the inspection date and will share the outcomes with you afterwards.

As part of the inspection process, inspectors may wish to speak with parents about the school’s spirituality and Christian distinctiveness. If you would be willing to contribute in this way, we warmly invite you to contact the school office to register your interest.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Lighting of the Christmas Tree

On Friday 28th November, parents and pupils are welcome to join us for our annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree.  Please come along to the school hall at 3.25pm to enjoy some festive cheer as we sing carols together and officially switch on the Christmas lights. We look forward to sharing this special moment with you.

FOLPS Update

Don’t forget the FoLPS Christmas Fair is on Friday 5th December 5-7pm. Please do join us to get into the Christmas spirit!

A few key reminders:

  • Thursday 4th December: Non-uniform day in return for tombola prizes (for either the “tipsy tombola” or kids tombola). Please bring prizes to the Conference Room (between the Reception classrooms and the Studio) at Thursday morning drop-off.
  • Friday 5th December: We’d be thrilled if Reception & KS1 families wanted to bring in a few homemade cakes that we can sell at our tea & cake stall. Please donate these to the Conference Room at Friday morning drop-off. Labelled containers will be returned to your child’s class on the Monday following.
  • Don’t forget your re-usable mugs for the mulled wine and hot drinks!

Christmas Raffle:

A FoLPS Fair wouldn’t be complete without a raffle! We have some wonderful prizes this year kindly donated by generous local supporters, from days out with Batsford Arboretum, Fairy Tale Farm and Painswick Rococo Garden, to vouchers from Gloucester Rugby, Leisure@ and Brickhampton Golf, to tasty treats from Beefy Boys, Pud and Wholly Gelato, and a £100 cash prize kindly sponsored by Kate West Massage – and many more! The draw will be held on Friday 12th December and tickets will be available from www.raffall.com/folps

Volunteers

FoLPS needs you! Events such as this are unable to function without enough volunteers to help run the stalls. We have two time slots: 16:45-18:00 or 18:00-19:15. If you are able to help, please email

chair@folps.com with your time and stall preference if any.

What will be there?

A bar, hot dog stand, tombola, tea & cakes stall, glitter tattoos & face painting, sweet & popcorn stall, games and, new for this year, a Christmas “elfie” station! Cotswold Pizza Van will also be returning.

Sponsorship

We are currently looking for local businesses to sponsor stalls at the Fair. Do you work for a company that might be interested in return for the positive publicity? Please get in touch by emailing chair@folps.com

Many thanks to our generous raffle prize donors and especially to Kate West Massage who are kindly sponsoring this year’s Christmas Fair!
