Dear Parents

Dear Parents

As we come to the end of a busy and successful term, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the wonderful experiences we have shared as a school family.

One of the real highlights of our Wellbeing Week was the Forest School sessions, where families were invited to join their children for outdoor learning and exploration. It was fantastic to see so many of you taking part, and it certainly looked like everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves. A huge thank you to Mrs Head and Miss Manning, whose enthusiasm and hard work made these sessions such a memorable experience for all.

Our annual House Music Competition took place today – it was incredible! The children performed with confidence, creativity and real team spirit. Every house showcased something special, and the standard of performance was wonderful to see. The children should feel incredibly proud of themselves – we are certainly very proud of them.

On Monday, we held our Easter Service. The theme this year was Thread of Hope, linked to the Easter story. We learnt about Felix Finkbeiner, a young environmental activist who began planting trees at the age of nine because he believed children could help protect the planet. His idea grew into a global movement called Plant for the Planet, inspiring millions of trees to be planted around the world. Felix’s story reminds us that even small actions can create powerful change.

We are pleased to share that our recent SIAMS inspection has now been completed. The report highlights the strength of our school family, the care shown by staff and pupils and the way our Christian vision is lived out each day. We look forward to sharing the full report with you after the Easter break.

On behalf of everyone at Leckhampton, I wish you a restful and joyful holiday and look forward to welcoming the children back for the summer term on Monday 13th April.

Kind regards
Sam Porter

On Friday 17th April, parents are invited to join us for the final Open Classrooms session of the year. Parents are invited to enter their child’s classroom from 8.35am to 8.55am to share their child’s work.

Science Update - Primary Science Quality Mark - Family Science

This academic year, we have signed up to complete the Primary Science Quality Mark which is a year- long school development program, leading to a 3-year long accreditation. The aim for us is to further develop science teaching and learning in school, thereby ensuring that children’s scientific literacy is high and that they see science as meaningful and relevant to their daily lives.

We have several development aims including the development of scientific oracy; enriching the curriculum through further use of our outdoor learning environments; and also supporting the children in becoming more independent and more skilful scientists themselves.

To extend the reach of our science development, we’ll be sharing fun ‘kitchen science’ activities which you can complete at home, if you choose. The aim is for you to have easy access to fun, manageable but simple activities. Children are welcome to share their experiences in school with their class-teachers and peers.

Have a look at the Marvin and Milo ‘Do Try This at Home’.

Happy science-ing!

Science Week w/c 27th April 2026

Back by popular demand, it’s ‘Meet a scientist’!

Do you have a science-related job? Do you work in medicine, pharmaceuticals, Earth sciences, dentistry, conservation, engineering, technology, botany, animal-care or any other wonderful area of science?

During Leckhampton Primary’s Science Week (27th April – 1st May), we are inviting parents to come in and talk to their child’s class about their work.

How did you get into that line of work? What did you study? What does a typical day look like? Which bits are the easiest/ hardest? How do you use Science in your work? The children will, no doubt, have lots of questions for you too!

If you would be willing to come in for 20 minutes at some point during that week and talk to your child’s class about your work, please get in touch with their class-teacher to arrange a suitable time and date.

If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me via the school office.

With your help, we are shaping tomorrow’s scientists!

Thank you for your support.
