Welcome Back!
I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable half‑term break. It has been wonderful to see the children return refreshed and ready for another busy term of learning.
A huge thank you to everyone for your continued support in parking off‑site. This has made a noticeable and very positive difference to safety and congestion on the school grounds. We have however, seen one or two cars beginning to creep back onto the site. Please remember that the off‑site parking rule applies to everyone for the safety of all our families. Blue Badge holders are, of course, very welcome to use the accessible parking spaces on site.
BBC Points West Filming – Morning of 2nd March 2026
We wanted to make you aware that the BBC will be filming on the morning of 2nd March, during our bright‑colours non‑uniform day. The film crew will be positioned near the proposed new crossing point and may wish to speak briefly with families on their way into school. They are expected to be in place from around 8:00am. Thank you in advance for your support and patience.
We are looking forward to a positive and productive half‑term ahead. Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support.
Best wishes
Sam Porter
Teacher Led Clubs
Please note that there will be no teacher-led clubs or external clubs during the week beginning 9th March. This was shared on our club calendar for 2025/26 and all club bookings reflect these dates. We thank you for support.
Exercise Books - Please send in a carrier bag
Pupils in Years 1 to 6 will be bringing home the last of their exercise books from last academic year, next week. Please could parents send children in with a carrier bag on Monday 2nd March and any books which teachers have been storing will be brought home by children.
Value for the first part of the term: Thankfulness
This term, we are shining a spotlight on the value of Thankfulness. As a school community, we want to help children recognise the many blessings in their lives—both big and small. From friendships and learning opportunities to everyday acts of kindness, there is so much for us all to appreciate. We will be encouraging pupils to pause, notice the good around them, and remember the importance of saying “thank you” to others. These simple moments of gratitude help build empathy, strengthen relationships, and create a positive learning environment.
We will also be exploring how our differences make our school a richer and more interesting place. Being thankful for the unique qualities each person brings—whether in personality, culture, strengths, or interests—helps children value themselves and others. When children learn to appreciate diversity, they grow into kinder, more understanding individuals.
Questions to Explore at Home
- What blessings can we count today—big or small?
- Who did something kind for you today? Did you say thank you?
- What is something different about you that you’re thankful for?
- How do our differences make our family or friendships stronger?
Activities to Try Together
- Blessing Hunt: Spend a few minutes each evening naming three things each of you is thankful for.
- ThankYou Challenge: Encourage your child to say “thank you” to someone new each day—perhaps a teacher, a sibling, or a neighbour.
- Celebrating Differences: Create a “family strengths poster” where each person adds something unique they bring to the family.
- Gratitude Drawing: Younger children can draw something they feel thankful for and explain why.
Agents of Change Award
Any pupils who wish to submit their evidence for an Agents of Change Award are invited to do so by Monday 2nd March 2026. We will be holding our award ceremony on Monday 16th March, during Collective Worship.
Cheltenham Animal Shelter
A pupil in Year 4 is currently organising an event for Cheltenham Animal Shelter (GAWA). Families are invited to send in pet supplies between Monday 9th March and Friday 13th March. Please see the flyer for full details. Thank you.

World Book Day – Be the Hero of Your Own Story 5th March 2026

This year’s whole school book is Be You! by Peter Reynolds. Be You! is a beautifully uplifting picture book that encourages every child to celebrate what makes them unique. Through simple, inspiring messages and vibrant illustrations, Peter Reynolds reminds readers to be brave, be kind, be curious, and most importantly, be themselves.
Dress-Up Theme Children and staff are invited to come to school in non-uniform. They may choose to wear clothes that reflect who they are or dress as a character from a book. Capes are very welcome as we celebrate the theme Be the Hero of Your Own Story.
Home-School Project – Superpowers Display All children are invited to bring in a photograph or drawing of themselves with their “superpowers” written on it. Pictures should be no larger than A5. These will be displayed in school to celebrate the unique strengths of every child.

Active Journeys to School Week and Spring into Action Day Monday 2nd March 2026
We will be holding an Active Journeys to School Week in the week beginning 2nd March. All children will be encouraged to walk, cycle or scoot to school. The families who travel by car will be encouraged to complete a part of their journey in an active way where possible. For example, by parking a short distance from school and walking the final minutes of the journey when possible.
On Monday 2nd March, we will also be holding a Spring into Action Day which is a non-uniform day. Children will be invited to wear bright colours on this day in return for a donation to the Church Road Pedestrian Crossing Appeal.
A ParentPay link will be set up for the school event after the half-term holidays. Parents are asked to donate at least £1 per child towards this appeal if they wish to take part.
