Dear Parents
As we come to the end of our first Spring term, I want to thank you for your continued support and encouragement. It has certainly been a term marked by plenty of dreary, wet weather, and I think we are all hoping that next half term brings us some brighter, sunnier days to enjoy.
A real highlight this term has been our House Cross Country event, where the children showed remarkable determination and team spirit. It took place on Wednesday, and it was wonderful to see every pupil give their best despite the muddy conditions.
We have also enjoyed taking part in our class worships, most recently Poplar Class Worship, which was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to share their thoughts and ideas with the school community. These moments as a school family are incredibly important to us.
A gentle but important reminder: photography and filming during worships, is not permitted due to safeguarding requirements. We rely on parents to support us in this policy – your cooperation ensures the safety and wellbeing of every child. It would be a great shame if we ever had to remove photography privileges at school events entirely, so we appreciate your continued partnership in keeping our school a secure environment for all.
Wishing every family, a peaceful, restful half‑term holiday. We look forward to welcoming the children back on 23rd February, refreshed and ready for another exciting chapter of learning.
Best wishes
Sam Porter
Agents of Change Award
Any pupils who wish to submit their evidence for an Agents of Change Award are invited to do so by Monday 2nd March 2026. We will be holding our award ceremony on Monday 16th March, during Collective Worship.

World Book Day - Be the Hero of Your Own Story

This year’s whole school book is Be You! by Peter Reynolds. Be You! is a beautifully uplifting picture book that encourages every child to celebrate what makes them unique. Through simple, inspiring messages and vibrant illustrations, Peter Reynolds reminds readers to be brave, be kind, be curious, and most importantly, be themselves.
Dress-Up Theme Children and staff are invited to come to school in non‑uniform. They may choose to wear clothes that reflect who they are or dress as a character from a book. Capes are very welcome as we celebrate the theme Be the Hero of Your Own Story.
Home-School Project – Superpowers Display All children are invited to bring in a photograph or drawing of themselves with their “superpowers” written on it. Pictures should be no larger than A5. These will be displayed in school to celebrate the unique strengths of every child.

Active Journeys to School Week
We will be holding an Active Journeys to School Week in the week beginning 2nd March. All children will be encouraged to walk, cycle or scoot to school. The families who travel by car will be encouraged to complete a part of their journey in an active way where possible. For example, by parking a short distance from school and walking the final minutes of the journey when possible.
On Monday 2nd March, we will also be holding a Spring into Action Day which is a non-uniform day. Children will be invited to wear bright colours on this day in return for a donation to the Church Road Pedestrian Crossing Appeal.
A ParentPay link will be set up for the school event after the half-term holidays. Parents are asked to donate at least £1 per child towards this appeal if they wish to take part.
